2012 Livingston County Farm Bureau/Ethel K. Hoerner Foundation Scholarship
Dear High School Senior Scholarship Applicant:
The objective of the Livingston County Farm Bureau Foundation/Ethel K. Hoerner Scholarship program is to provide scholarships up to $1,500 to high school students who plan to major in agriculture, agribusiness, or an ag-related course of study. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic ability, service/activities of the applicant in school, church, community and financial need. Exemplary community service may be recognized.
HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
1) The applicant must be a member or a dependent of a member in good standing with Livingston County Farm Bureau.
2) The applicant must be a resident or a dependent of a resident of Livingston County or be attending a school in Livingston County and a United States citizen.
3) The applicant must be a High School Senior, a candidate for graduation from High School, and applied for enrollment at an accredited college, university, or community college.
4) Selection will be based on a composite grade of academics, school involvement, church and community activities, community and industry service, and financial need.
5) Qualified students must complete an application and return it to the Farm Bureau Foundation office at 901 W. Howard St., P.O. Box 410, Pontiac, IL 61764, no later than 4:30 p.m. on February 28, 2012.
6) Applications will be reviewed by the Farm Bureau Foundation Selection Committee which will make final selections. Personal interviews may be required.
7) Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest and intention of entering a career in agriculture or a closely related field.
8) The applicant’s character, reputation, and personal life, as evidenced by references, or by inquiry, will be of high quality, reflecting a high likelihood of success in their academic pursuits.
9) Scholarship checks will be mailed to the student following completion of the first semester after receiving the scholarship. Approval requires an overall “C” average or above. Scholarship recipients must provide a copy of the first semester grades to the Livingston County Farm Bureau at the above address.
10) Additional criteria that will be judged are additional academic honors and awards, rank in class, and test scores (ACT/SAT).
11) Applicants must include with their application a minimum of two letters of recommendation from individuals not related to the applicant.
