Through your Livingston County Farm Bureau membership you are a part of the largest "voice for agriculture". The Illinois Farm Bureau strives "to improve the economic well-being of agriculture and enrich the quality of farm family life." As a voice of agriculture the Illinois Farm Bureau encourages and lobbies for the passage of legislation. In the past year IFB has influenced the following legislation.:

  • Stopped the GRT tax twice.
  • Worked on halt expensive tractor retro-fitting
  • Lobbied to defeat the crippling estate tax
  • Helped override Bush's efforts to stop lock and dam improvement that affect grain shipping
  • Strived to keep weight issues for agriculture trucking a state matter-not a local one.
  • Lobbied for farmers during EPA revisions for livestock buildings and waste systems
  • Encourage vet students to specialize in farm animals with the one of a kind IVET program
  • Worked to add nutritional value to DDGs
  • Taught consumer and grain growers how livestock producers are critical to Illinois economy
  • Opposed devastating cuts to 4-H funding .
  • Created Illinois' first agriculture specialty license plate, with proceeds going to Illinois Agriculture in the classroom.
  • Passed legislation that assessed farmland fairly.
  • Passed a law that compensated land owners for personal property damage caused by gas/oil drilling.
  • Supported a bill that would prevent the use of farm chemicals in the production of the drug, meth
