Newest Crop Insurance Update – Jan. 26

An exciting new option will be available for crop insurance users in 2012-one that has been described as the second biggest enhancement to the crop insurance program ever! At this meeting this new Trend-Adjusted APH Option will be explained fully along with other important factors you will need to make the best crop insurance decision for your operation. Any significant changes to the crop insurance program that develop out of the farm bill debate will also be covered.

Ham Donation to Livingston County Community Food Pantry

The Livingston County Farm Bureau in cooperation with the Illinois Corn Marketing Board donated $300 for 47 four (4) lb. hams for the Livingston County Community Food Pantry this holiday season. Our wish is that everyone can enjoy a Christmas dinner with their family.

Corn Focus in Adopted Classroom Visits

Several members of the Livingston County Farm Bureau Young Leaders visited three (3) Adopted Classrooms while in Chicago during the IAA Annual Meeting. On Monday, December 5th Brad & Anna Schmidgall, Katrina Stoller, Sarah Hoerner, Tyler Harvey, IFB Manager Trainee and Manager Grant-Quick gave presentations in Ms. Gonzalez, Ms. Balasa, and Mr. Gedig's 4th grade classes at Calmeca Academy of Fine Arts and Dual Language.

Each YL member talked about their farming background and growing up on a farm. They discussed how their job now is related to agriculture.

“Pull for Ag Students” Fundraiser nets $600

On a beautiful Sunday, August 28th, shooters from throughout the state came to Livingston County Farm Bureau Gun Club for some friendly competition to raise funds for the LCFB Foundation. Winners in the 50 Bird Derby were: tied for first place, Rich Orenden and Gary Evans; 2nd place, Dave W.; 1st Lewis tie- Dave Cole and John Ryan; 2nd Lewis 3-way tie- Jack Dunn, Larry Edwards, Larry Kindom; 3rd Lewis tie- Bob Wesselhoff and Mike Grosso. After awards and door prizes were distributed the participants took part in games of Protection and 10 Birds.
