TEACHERS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND LIVINGSTON COUNTY’S

SUMMER AG INSTITUTE

“FROM BLUESTEM & BISON TO CORN & CATTLE”

This summer, the Livingston County Agriculture in the Classroom program is offering a
multi-day teacher workshop. It is titled, “From Bluestem and Bison to Corn and Cattle”
and will be held on June 8 –10, 2022 at the Livingston County Farm Bureau office. Each
day begins at 8 am and concludes at 4 pm. Lunch and most transportation will be
provided. 22 CPDUs are available.
Teachers at all levels and in both traditional and non-traditional classrooms are invited
to attend and participate in engaging, hands-on agriculture-based activities that can be
implemented in their classrooms. Activities will include: field trips to local farms and
agribusiness operations; guest speakers from Illinois commodities groups and Illinois Ag
in the Classroom staff; and many hands-on activities to showcase standards-based
lessons that teach math, science, ELA and social studies. The sessions provide
elementary and secondary teachers a better understanding of the complexity, scope,
and scale of Illinois agriculture, its impact on each person's life and on the economy of
Illinois and the nation. Educators are also treated to great food, time for collaboration,
FREE resources for their classrooms, and plenty of FUN!
Registrations are being accepted till Friday, May 13th on a first-come basis. The course
fee is $25 and is payable on the first day of class. For further information or to register,
contact Ag Literacy Coordinator, Debbie Ruff at aitc.livingston@gmail.com or by calling
